How CabinJoin Works

Discover how we connect solo travellers and private groups with yacht trips and charters through a thoughtful request and confirmation process.

Explore trips

At sea, the right company and the right vessel change everything. CabinJoin is built on a simple human idea: one person should be able to find their place on a shared journey, while a private group can keep an entire yacht to itself. Rather than offering instant bookings, we use a request-based process. Organisers and boat operators review each request to confirm availability before any payment is processed, helping you plan with clarity.

Two Paths to the Water

CabinJoin is a marketplace that brings people and yachts together, without owning or operating the vessels ourselves. We believe that the sea should be accessible whether you are travelling alone or with a full group. Solo travellers can request a single berth or cabin on an organised trip, while private groups can request an entire yacht. This dual approach allows everyone to find their own way to experience the water, supported by a clear and structured request process.

Because maritime travel depends on weather, crew readiness, and changing schedules, we do not use instant bookings. Instead, every journey begins with a request. A trip organiser or boat operator must manually review and confirm availability before any booking is finalised or payment is captured. This step respects the realities of the sea, helping to align your travel plans with the actual status of the vessel and its crew.

To keep transactions straightforward for international travellers and European operators, all payments on CabinJoin are processed in Euros (EUR). To help you coordinate details and discuss safety guidelines comfortably, our platform supports five languages: English, Russian, French, Spanish, and German. This shared understanding helps crew members, organisers, and operators connect clearly before setting sail.

Finding Your Place in a Shared Crew

For solo travellers or pairs, the journey begins by exploring public trips planned by organisers who have already secured a charter. When you find an itinerary that speaks to you, you submit a request to join the crew rather than buying an instant ticket. This request indicates your interest in a specific cabin or berth, allowing the organiser to review who will be sharing the space.

The trip organiser reviews your request, keeping in mind the overall crew dynamic and the remaining space on board. Because living on a yacht means sharing close quarters, this step helps the organiser curate a balanced and cooperative group. The organiser has the final decision on whether to accept or decline the request based on their plans for the voyage.

If the organiser approves your request, you will be notified to complete your payment in EUR through our secure gateway. If the request is declined or expires, no funds are captured, leaving you free to explore other journeys. This sequence means you only pay once your place on board is confirmed by the organiser.

Gathering Your Own Crew on a Private Yacht

If you are travelling with family, friends, or colleagues, you can request an entire yacht to keep the space to yourselves. You can browse our boat listings to find a vessel that fits your group's size and style. Once you find the right match, your group representative submits a charter request specifying your preferred dates and requirements.

Your request goes directly to the boat operator or fleet manager, who checks the yacht's schedule, maintenance status, and skipper availability. Because listings represent stored source records rather than live availability, this manual check by the operator is essential to confirm that the vessel is ready and available for your dates before they approve the request.

Once the operator confirms the yacht is available, you will be prompted to complete the payment in EUR. If the operator cannot accommodate your request due to prior bookings or maintenance, the request is declined, no funds are captured, and you can easily submit a request for another vessel.

Our Standard for Trip Organisers

To support a reliable marketplace, CabinJoin requires that organisers only publish public trips once they have secured a confirmed charter for the vessel. Organisers cannot list speculative trips to test interest; they must have a real, contracted yacht in place before inviting solo travellers or pairs to join them.

This rule helps protect solo travellers from the disappointment of a cancelled trip due to an unsecured boat. By requiring a confirmed charter before any public trip is published, we help make sure that every listing you see represents a genuine, planned voyage on a contracted vessel.

Organisers are responsible for managing the trip's logistics, coordinating onboard life, and sharing safety protocols. While organiser verification requires evidence of a confirmed charter before their trip is published, CabinJoin does not supervise onboard operations. We encourage you to use our supported languages—English, Russian, French, Spanish, or German—to talk with your organiser and clarify expectations before you depart.

How Payments and Confirmations Align

We believe your funds should only be committed when your trip is real. When you submit a request for a cabin or a private charter, you provide payment details, but no money is captured. Instead, a temporary authorisation is placed, keeping your funds untouched while the organiser or operator reviews your request.

Your payment is only captured once the organiser or operator formally approves your request. This avoids the frustration of paying upfront only to wait for a refund if the vessel is unavailable. All authorisations and payments are processed in Euros (EUR) to maintain a clear, consistent value throughout the request window.

If a request is declined, cancelled, or expires, the authorisation is released immediately and no charges are made. We do not process payments or establish supplier connections unless the request is confirmed by the operator or organiser, helping to protect your plans and your capital.

The Reality of Life at Sea

CabinJoin is a platform that connects travellers with independent operators and organisers; we do not own vessels, employ skippers, or manage routes. Because of this, we cannot promise specific weather, exact itineraries, or vessel availability. All journeys are subject to real-world maritime conditions, and listings represent stored source records rather than live, real-time availability.

Living on a yacht is a unique social and physical experience. Shared trips require you to live in close quarters with others, share daily tasks, and adapt to the movement of the sea. Itineraries may change at the skipper's discretion to keep the crew safe. If you prefer complete predictability or quiet isolation, we encourage you to consider whether a shared voyage matches your expectations before requesting a spot.

You are responsible for your own travel preparations, including visas, personal travel insurance, and fitness for sailing. CabinJoin does not verify passenger readiness or travel eligibility. The actual voyage is an agreement between you and your independent organiser or operator, supported by our secure request process.

To prepare for a successful journey, we encourage you to explore our resources and guidelines. Understanding whether you want to request a single cabin or a private charter is the first step. Before submitting a request, take a moment to review our safety and booking principles, which explain what to look for when evaluating trip details and organiser credentials.

Direct communication is key to a great experience. By using our supported languages—English, Russian, French, Spanish, and German—you can speak directly with organisers and operators to discuss onboard rules, safety gear, and expectations. Asking questions early helps make sure everyone is aligned before you step on board.
